1974 Pontiac GTO

1974 Pontiac GTO hatchback. This is a PHS documented GTO with 4 speed and air conditioning. This car received a body-off restoration with many scarce NOS parts. My brother and I both owned 70s Venturas back in the day; mine a coupe, his a hatchback. This bodystyle was always a popular one for us; this car represents the ultimate expression of the 70s Ventura and carries the cachet of the last (American) GTO. This car has a wonderful sound and feel to it!

1979 Dodge Little Red Express 'Lil' Red Viper Express' conversion by Darrel

This was one of Dad's biggest "what if..." projects. "What if someone put a Viper engine in a Lil' Red Express truck?" Such a neat vehicle to drive on the street! It got lots of attention, and were people ever surprised when they got a peek under the hood!

and a recent pic by the current owner, says it's a '76 el camino conversion...

yet another more recent photo:

1971 Pontiac Grand Prix SSJ by Hurst

Dad knew as much about SSJ Grand Prixs as anyone on the planet. He could have (should have) written a book! This example is in quite good hands now.

1965 Pontiac Catlina Convertible 'Grand Prix' conversion by Darrel

The idea of factory show cars intrigued Dad. He enjoyed discussing the factory prototypes and experimental cars produced by Pontiac and GM. He also liked the special presentation cars and the car vehicles produced by the factory for special demonstration purposes.

Dad assembled this car as a "what if?" car, as in "What if Pontiac built a '65 Grand Prix convertible as a special vehicle for some high-ranking executive?"

This car started life as a turquoise Catalina. Dad remembered driving to Laredo to pick up this car in a dealer trade when it was new. After 12 years, he bought it back from the original owner and let me drive it for a while. It was sold locally. When it popped up for sale as a basket case many years later, Dad purchased it and refurbished it as a "dream car".

1932 Pontiac V8

The first Pontiac V-8 fascinated Dad. This is the only one he owned, as I recall. We would chat about the design, the odd crankshaft, the way the engine would rock. Many vehicles from the 1930s found their way into Dad's collection.

1934 Pontiac street rod

Dad owned several street rods. This was his favorite. It has a Pontiac drivetrain, a 400 c.i. engine with a tri-power setup. This car also sported a moonroof, a custom "whiteout" paint scheme, special bucket seats, power windows and locks, cruise, tilt, special gauges and of course air conditioning. This car actually saw some street time!
